13.3. Multistakeholder engagement (FAO, NAP GN, UNCDF, UNDP)

NAP stakeholders encompass diverse actors ranging from community members, such as youth, women, farmers or entrepreneurs to policymakers, private sector and researchers involved at very different levels. Strengthening inclusive multi-stakeholder engagement across scales ensures that adaptation strategies benefit from a wide array of perspectives and expertise, leading to more robust and context-specific and locally appropriate solutions. Through this collaborative approach, adaptation strategies can better address the specific vulnerabilities and needs of different stakeholders, catalyzing sustainable and transformative changes and facilitating climate resilient development. By involving various stakeholders in the adaptation planning, implementation and decision-making processes with a focus on equitable participation, adaptation initiatives can also secure greater ownership, legitimacy, and effectiveness, particularly when considering gender dynamics and the inclusion of women. Thus, the proposed side event serves as a platform to underscore the significance of bolstering inclusive multi-stakeholder engagement for climate change adaptation especially for the NAP formulation, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation.
